Can New Customers Get Offers for Existing Customers?

Access Granted Green Rounded Sign

The quick answer to this question is YES. New customers can primarily benefit from a sign up offer or sign up bonus, examples of which can be found on our Free Bets page. Once you have completed the sign up process and any verification checks, you can then access all the existing customer offers that are available on that betting site, including free bet clubs, competitions, prize draws, loyalty schemes and the occasional free bets shown above.

Certain companies might require you to make a deposit or place a real money bet, or to have done this recently, but outside of that you are generally able to benefit as soon as your eligible account has been fully opened.

What are Free Bet Clubs and How Do They Work?

Wireframe Green Smartphone with TickA free bet club is a type of promotion run primarily by online bookmakers, but occasionally high street shops, to reward customers who have bet regularly with them. The basic premise is that you place a set number of qualifying bet in a certain period of time and in return you can receive a free bet.

Free bet clubs differ from other promotions in that they won’t be a bet one get one free type of offer, rather they will follow a card stamp model where you work towards a free bet by betting routinely.

The qualifying criteria for free bet clubs tend to be quite broad, generally not limited to a specific match or race, so the majority of customers can benefit by following their normal betting patterns.

Also, free bet clubs tend to be a repeating offer. If the qualifying period is over a week, you will normally be able to qualify once each week.

How Many Bets Do I Need to Place?

Five Green Tick Wooden Blocks

This will vary from offer to offer so check the terms carefully but as a general rule of thumb, between three and five bets is normally the point at which a free bet is triggered.

A key consideration is the timeframe in which you need to place the required number of bets. Often this will encompass a period of one week, from 00:00 on a Monday to 23:59 on the Sunday. Alternatively, they might need to be placed on a certain tournament over a day or two.

Relating to the time frame that bets qualify for a free bet club, not only will your bets have to placed within that period, they will normally have to be settled within that same period. If you placed a bet on a Sunday for a weekly free bet club that isn’t settled until the Monday, the chances are it will not qualify as one of your bets for either week. This is something to consider if you know that a certain game such as a Sunday night NFL fixture won’t finish until the early hours of a Monday morning in the UK.

What Do I Place Bets On?

Again, this will depend on the specific promotion. They may be any sport in a week, they may be in-play/live bets or they may be on a particular type of bet such as a football accumulator.

These examples are quite general but the qualifying criteria could be more specific. The free bet club might require you to place bets on different matches at Wimbledon, or different races at the Cheltenham Festival.

One loophole you might be considering is simply splitting your bet into smaller bets in order to qualify for a free bet in one go. For example, instead of placing a £25 bet on a certain market, you place five bets of £5. You will find that multiple bets on the same outcome or selection won’t count, with only the initial bet going towards the total.

As with almost all promotions, even if all sports qualify for a free bet club, minimum odds will apply. These will often be quite short however, possibly odds-on, as a free bet club aim is to be as inclusive as possible to regular customers.

Does My Bet Need to Win?

Win or Lose on Chalkboard

For most free bet clubs, your bet won’t have to win in order to qualify. Simply placing a bet which meets the criteria will suffice whether your bet wins or loses. Your selection will need to take part however, non-runners or other void bets will be ineligible. Similarly, if you cash out your bet, even partially, it is likely that it will no longer count towards gaining a free bet.

Free Bet Club Example

To illustrate how a free bet club might work, we’ve picked ten bets on events taking place across a week. The free bet club in this example involves all sports markets however the following criteria apply:

  • Bets must be singles
  • Minimum stake £5
  • Minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5)
  • Bets must be placed and settled between Monday and Sunday
  • Placing five qualifying bets will result in a free £5 bet
Bet Stake Odds Bet Qualifies?
Rock On Rocco to win 8/1 £5
Rory McIlroy to win tournament outright 9/1 £10
Cleveland Cavaliers win 4/11 £30
Chelsea to beat Leicester Evs £5
Liverpool to Beat Bournemouth 2/5 £20
Rashford to score anytime 5/4 £10
Lincoln Burrows to win 25/1 £2
Celtic to win 1/4 £20
Carlos Alcaraz to win 2-0 1/4 £10
England to beat France 5/4 £8

We can see that of the ten bets placed, five meet the criteria for the free bet club so we will qualify for a free bet.

How Do Loyalty Schemes Work on Betting Sites?

Neon Rewards Box Icon

Much like a free bet club, a loyalty scheme will reward their customers for betting regularly with them. Often, these loyalty schemes will be based on a points system. By placing bets or playing casino games, customers will accrue points which can then result in rewards later on.

Examples or rewards include:

  • Free bets
  • Cash back
  • Casino spins or play
  • Bet boosts
  • Tickets to events
  • Merchandise

You may find that you can gain enhanced points for betting on certain events or markets, such as major sporting tournaments or for new product launches. These promotions often give rewards across other areas of their site, for example betting in the casino could gain you free sports bets, or conversely, betting on sports could gain you casino play.

Most loyalty schemes will require you to opt-in but you may find that your bookmaker will credit free bets or bonuses to their customers from time to time outside of these programs.

What Free to Enter Competitions Do Bookmakers Have?

Line Drawn Trophy Square ButtonAs with the free bets clubs mentioned above, competitions are another way for a particular bookmaker to reward their customers. Crucially with most of these competitions, they are free to enter, which means that you don’t necessarily need to bet on anything specifically to be able to take part.

Many of these competitions run every week, particularly during the football season, or they can run continuously on sports such as horse racing. Other competitions will be centred around major tournaments such as the tennis Grand Slams or a particular race meeting such as Royal Ascot.

Although there are a wide variety of such contest, most will fall into one of three categories – prize draws, predictor games and betting leaderboards.

Prize Draws

You May Be a Winner Blue Tickets

Prize draws are one of the simplest free to enter competitions run by bookmakers. Often centred around a major event in the sporting calendar such as cup finals, often you will simply have to opt-in to the prize draw when logged into your account. A random draw will then take place at a specified time, with the winner given prizes such as cash jackpots or VIP tickets. There may also be runners-up prizes of free bets or vouchers.

Sometimes, prize draws will be entered by betting on a certain sport or event. Although not strictly speaking entirely free, the entry to the competition will not cost anything outside of placing the qualifying bet or bets. The plus point for these type of prize draws is that entries can be unlimited. This means that if you place multiple qualifying bets, you can have multiple entries to the draw.

Predictor Competitions

Games where you predict certain outcomes, usually involving football fixtures have become increasing popular in recent years. Involving a round of fixtures in popular leagues of tournaments such as the Premier League or the Champions League, you may be required to predict the outcome of those matches or elements within certain matches such as the number of bookings or corners.

Other competitions involve picking out the first goalscorers in a group of matches, or picking out the scorer and the time of goals in a particular matches.

Whatever you are required to predict, prizes will either be given as cash or as free bets, and will often involve consolation prizes if you narrowly miss out on the top prize. Some may even reward you with free bets or bonuses for simply entering the competition.

Betting Championships

The final main category of free to enter contests aren’t strictly speaking free to take part. Betting championships or leaderboards involve betting on a particular event, accruing points based on the odds of successful bets or a combination of the odds of bets placed and the stake.

These leaderboards will run for the duration of a tournament such as the World Cup or the French Open, with points based on the cumulative points scored by all qualifying bets on that particular event. The winner will the customer on first place, with numerous incentives also for those finishing in a high positions on the leaderboard.

You will usually be required to place a winning real money bet to gain a place on these competitions so can’t be considered ‘free’ but sometimes the leaderboard will be made up of continual free predictions or by predictions made with a free bet provided by the bookmaker.
